Its wadis have been eaten away by water and then by wind and sand for over 100,000 years. The highest cliffs are located on the south and southwest sides.

Our 1st pause is at the Sugar Loaf area, the sugar loaf hill and arch is a landmark spot in El Gilf El Kebir. We will then stop by the area known as Mud Lions, used to be an extensive lake during ancient time, but now is dried. Atmosphere changes had created figures from the rocks, that's why it is known as the mud lions area.

We will resume our trip as we arrive at the Aqaba path to see the western hills of the Gilf El Kebir!

Our initial visit is at the Swimmer's Cave, which is actually located in Wadi Sura (Valley of Pictures), where Almasi discovered it in October 1933. Frobenius's expedition searched for rock art in Uweinat and in the western valleys of Gilf, which Patrick Clayton had explored two years earlier. Clayton's son believes that his father found the wadi and its other caves first, but it fell to Almashi to open the Swimmer's Cave and name the valley.

It is actually a small depression at the beginning of the wadi, completely open to the forces of nature. Inside the Swimmer's Cave, there are over a thousand figures of various styles. Famous swimmers are 10 centimeters long and are painted red with small, round heads on stem-like and tadpole-like bodies and spider-like arms and legs.

Our following station will be at the Mestekawi Cave which was found in 2002 by an Egyptian-Italian tourist group which was commanded by Massimo Foggini (an Italian tourist) and Ahmed Mistikaoui (An Egyptian Tourist).

This cave is spectacular hosting a large number of ancient rock drawings that are perfectly well preserved. Later that day, we get our camp ready in Wadi Sura to enjoy the enchanting mood of the place, stargazing, have an astounding dinner meal, and spend the night in our cozy camp.

But remember, you can always ask to join a group tour if available, this option will guarantee the reduction of the tour pricing as we mostly deal with private guided tours to assure the highest quality of service.
The proportionately higher prices for people traveling alone (Solo Travelers) mostly result from the higher overnight-room costs, as normally almost all hotel rooms are structured for 2 people who can each assume half of the overnight costs. This also applies to flat-rate travel. The hotels would not benefit from offering a reduction to solo travelers when the rooms could be occupied by 2 persons at a normal price. During the low season, some hotels lower the prices as a reason for the decreased demand since they have a large number of beds when the demand is not too high.
Prices vary throughout the year depending on the offer and request. During the summer and especially during the holidays that are considered high seasons like the Christma and New Year holidays, Easter holidays, and special events such as sports championship or destinations that are very popular and recent. Therefore tour operators can demand higher prices according to the increasing cost of accommodation and/ or implementation.
Most trips can also be booked for a shorter or longer period. However, if, for example, your departure time is changed, trips lasting 5 or 10 days will not be possible, that’s why we always request the flight details before proceeding with the booking, just to make sure the last suggested itinerary is fit for both the traveler and the operator.
From the date of booking until 46 days before your arrival date, 10% of the entire tour price will be charged. Between 45 and 31 days before your arrival date, 20% of the entire tour price will be charged. Between 30 and 15 days before your arrival date, 50% of the entire tour price will be charged. Between 14 and 1 days before your arrival date, 100% of the entire tour price will be charged.
