Memphis: The legendary capital founded by King Menes (Narmer) after he unified Upper and Lower Egypt more than five thousand years ago. This city was the centre of government, religion, and the arts for centuries. In its open museum, we find the statue of Ramses II, which is impressive for its precision and size, along with the alabaster sphinx, which reflects the Egyptian artist's skill in depicting strength and majesty. There, we feel as if we are standing before a city that was once the heart of the ancient world, where the affairs of the Egyptian empire were managed and sacred rituals were performed for its main god, Ptah.
Dahshur: This quiet spot is home to distinctive pyramids built during the reign of King Sneferu, founder of the Fourth Dynasty and father of King Khufu. Here, we shall see how the pyramids were transformed from incomplete projects to the ideal form that inspired people all over the world. What we will be able to visit there:
The Bent Pyramid: A unique architectural masterpiece, its construction began at a sharp angle and was then modified during construction to take on its distinctive curved shape. This architectural experiment demonstrates the ancient Egyptians' determination to achieve perfection in the art of construction.
The Red Pyramid: This is the first complete pyramid in history and is considered a milestone in the journey of development that later led to the construction of the Pyramids of Giza. The colours of its red stones under the sun make it a mesmerising sight, especially when approaching its entrances, which take us to the heart of the pyramid where the secret burial chambers are located.
What distinguishes Dahshur is that it is less crowded than Giza, giving us the opportunity to contemplate and enjoy the beauty of the place in a more peaceful and private atmosphere, as if we were going back thousands of years to witness the first steps of the pharaohs towards immortality.
You will then be returned to your airport in time for your journey back to Hurghada.
