Saqqara Treasures Day Trip from Cairo Airport

Your tour today will begin as soon as you arrive at Cairo International Airport, where you will find your tour guide waiting for you with a welcoming smile and a comfortable air-conditioned private vehicle. After a quick overview of the tour programme, our adventure will begin by heading towards one of Egypt's greatest archaeological sites: Saqqara, an open-air museum that tells the story of the early beginnings of Pharaonic civilisation.

The beginning of our adventure will be at the Step Pyramid of Djoser, which is the oldest monumental stone structure in the world, designed by the genius architect “Imhotep” for King Djoser in the Third Dynasty, and there you will stand in front of the pyramid to see how the idea of the pyramids began as a great architectural experiment, as well as wander through the surrounding funerary complex, where the halls and ornate courtyards will make you feel as if you have returned thousands of years back in time, in addition to our guide will reveal the secrets of its design and the stories of the kings who inspired the next generations of pyramid builders.

Then you'll visit the Pyramid of Unas, which houses the oldest hieroglyphic texts known as the Pyramid Texts, sacred spells written to help the king on his journey to the afterlife. In addition, you will head towards the Pyramid of Teti, where you can enter to see the amazing interior inscriptions, and on the way you will see the tombs of senior statesmen such as “Mereruka” and “Kagemni”, full of colourful frescoes that tell the details of daily life in ancient Egypt, from agriculture, hunting, and concerts.

We will then visit the Imhotep Museum, a modern museum dedicated to showcasing artefacts discovered in the Saqqara area, where you will see tools, statuettes, and trinkets that illustrate the ingenuity of the Egyptians, and the museum also provides you with a comprehensive idea of the history of the region and the development of Pharaonic architecture and art.

After a leisurely tour of the ruins, you'll stop at a cosy local restaurant near Saqqara to enjoy an authentic Egyptian meal, where you can sample traditional dishes.

At the end of the day, you return to the car to set off again towards Cairo Airport, but this time carrying with you unforgettable memories and a rich experience that took you back to the beginnings of Egyptian civilisation and its secrets.
