After breakfast at your hotel in Cairo or Giza, get ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure in Cairo, starting with pickup from your hotel in a private air-conditioned car by our expert guide. Today, you will have the opportunity to explore the following:
Coptic Cairo, which is part of Old Cairo, is where you can visit the Hanging Church, St. George's Greek Church, and many other Coptic churches and historical sites. It is believed in Christian tradition that the Holy Family visited this area and stayed at the site of the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus (Abu Serga). Coptic Cairo was also a stronghold of Christianity in Egypt before and during the Islamic era, with most of its churches built after the Islamic conquest of Egypt in the 7th century. Coptic Cairo is located in an important archaeological area, close to the Mosque of Amr ibn al-As and the Jewish Temple of Ben Ezra.
Islamic Cairo, or Qahira al-Mu'izz, which is the heart of historic Cairo and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasts the most magnificent and largest collection of Islamic architecture in the world. Founded by the Fatimids in 969 AD, it features hundreds of mosques, schools, palaces, fortifications, and tombs dating back to successive Islamic eras. You can visit some archaeological treasures, such as Al-Muizz Street and Salah Al-Din Castle, known as Al-Jabal Castle, located on Al-Muqattam Hill. The castle was built to protect and defend the city against enemy attacks. It also includes several landmarks, the most important of which are the Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, the most famous mosque with a distinctive Ottoman design and two tall minarets, and the Mosque of Al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun. The castle offers a stunning panoramic view of the city and has been a center of government throughout the ages.
After that, we will continue our adventure with a visit to Khan Al-Khalili, one of the most famous markets in Egypt, and then we will have a delicious lunch at one of the local restaurants.
Finally, we will take you back to your hotel.
