Today we will visit the Lahoon Pyramid, one of the most prominent landmarks of the Middle Kingdom, built by King Senwosret II of the Twelfth Dynasty. Located near the village of Lahun, the pyramid is characterised by its unique construction using adobe bricks instead of huge stones, which distinguishes it from other Egyptian pyramids. The pyramid is believed to have secret passageways and entrances, and its design has intrigued many archaeologists.
We will also explore the amazing Pyramid of Hawara, attributed to King Amenemhat III and known as one of the most mysterious pyramids in Egypt. Its interior is said to contain the “Great Labyrinth” and was described by the Greek historian Herodotus as a miracle of the ancient world. There we can sense the grandeur of this structure and the complexity of its engineering, indicative of the advanced civilisation of that era.
After diving into the depths of Pharaonic history, we head to the Kom Oshim Museum, a regional museum that displays a variety of artefacts found in the Fayoum region. It contains Pharaonic, Greek, Roman, and Coptic artefacts, as well as some stunning funerary paintings from the Roman era, giving us a comprehensive visualisation of the evolution of life in this region through the ages.
At last, we will visit Lake Qarun, a well-known tourist destination and natural wonder in Fayoum, which is situated in the centre of the Western Desert and is among the oldest natural lakes in the world. There we can enjoy a walk along the shores of the lake or sit in one of the restaurants overlooking it for a traditional Egyptian lunch while watching the magical sunset over its tranquil waters.

The incredible pyramid of Lahoon: It is one of the pyramids of Egypt, built by King Senwosret II of the XII Dynasty, built with mud bricks on a hill 12 metres high on the outskirts of the city of Lahoon (Fayoum Governorate). Inside the pyramid was found the "Golden Sall", which was placed on the royal crown, and the tomb of the princess Sat Hathorat Aiont and the tomb of the pyramid engineer Enbi in the south and 8 mastabas, which were tombs for members of the royal family.
Pyramid of Hawara: Hawara is one of the most important monuments in Fayoum Governorate, as it was built by King Imnemhat III of the Twelfth Dynasty in the Middle Kingdom, 9 km southeast of the city of Fayoum, and this pyramid was built of Mexican adobe bricks with limestone, as the pyramid contains many corridors and chambers, ending with the burial chamber. A huge one-piece quartzite stone sarcophagus was found in it, and it also contains 300 chambers, half of which are underground and the other half above ground, and only some traces of the upper floor columns remain.
Kom Oshim Museum: It is one of the main museums in Egypt; it consists of two floors and contains 320 different artefacts, and the museum also contains archaeological statues that smell of ancient Egyptian civilisation and the greatness of the history of our ancestors, and distinctive paintings that are thousands of years old and tell different stories and legends.
