4 Days 3 Nights Siwa Oasis Trip from Cairo

To get a stunning overview of Siwa, we will head to the historic village of Shali today. Your guide will describe how the locals lived in the cramped quarters and the reasons behind the construction of Shali. Surrounded by a tall wall, the Shali fortress is situated atop a steep hill.Nearby is the main entrance, which is referred to as "City Gate" or "Bab Inshal" in the Siwa people's Amazigh language. Another choice is the ancient mosque, one of the oldest in North Africa. As part of the Shali rehabilitation project, the mosque was repaired and reopened in December 2015, and prayers are being held there.

We then go to the Mountain of the Dead. In order to see a scene that simultaneously combines life and death, you must visit the Mountain of the Dead while in Siwa. The mountain's interior contains tombs with artwork that date back thousands of years, and from the summit, you can observe the verdant palm trees. The Mountain of the Dead, then, represents the human journey between life and death.

Next, we will visit the Temple of Amun, which is divided into three sections: the main temple, the governor's house, and the guards' wing. It is home to the highest priests and is often visited by monarchs. Among its several annexes is the "sacred well," where the feet were cleansed and cleansed to speak with the oracle. We start with the Great Sand Sea, or the Egyptian Sand Sea, which is a large area of dunes formed by three sand seas located in the southwest of the Western Desert and is located in the desert shared by Libya and Egypt and received this name because the region contains many layers of diverse shifting sands formed by natural climatic fluctuations from limestone rock. The Great Sand Sea is the second largest continuous sand-covered area in the world after the Algerian desert, and the interior regions of the Great Sand Sea, which are completely submerged in sand, contain some rocky outcrops that provide a glimpse into the geology of the region.

The Great Sand Sea is the world's premier sandboarding destination. Characterized by huge and varied sand dunes, this area offers perfect opportunities for every adventurer in search of a unique experience to enjoy exciting and safe sandboarding. Off-road vehicles are used to reach the appropriate dunes, where skateboards and equipment are provided. Afterwards, visitors can enjoy magical sunsets and traditional tea in a picturesque desert setting.

After an adventurous day, we head to Bir Wahd, a natural spring located about 15 kilometers from Siwa. This place is perfect for relaxing and swimming in its fresh water, which is believed to have multiple health benefits that you can take advantage of.  The well is surrounded by beautiful scenery, making it a perfect place to rest and meditate after a busy day.

Siwa is famous for its medical tourism, as its sand provides natural elements suitable for alternative medicine, while 4x4 safaris are a favorite excursion for visitors to the oasis.

The name Siwa may have sprung from the earlier name "Eso" or the phrase "Sekhet Am," which translates to "the land of palm trees." Among the many names given to the oasis was "Penta," which could be found in one of the documents found in the temple of Edfu and meant "Oasis of Amun." until the Ptolemies, who called it “Oasis of Jupiter Amu”n, and the Arabs knew it as “Al-Waha Al-Aqsa”, which is the name mentioned in the plans of Al-Maqrizi. Ibn Khaldun referred to it as “Taniswa”, the name of a branch of the Zintana tribes of North Africa, and al-Idrisi as “Sintiriya”, saying that it was inhabited by a mixed Amazigh and Bedouin population.
