New Thebes is a new Egyptian city of the third generation, located in Luxor governorate, and administratively under the New Urban Communities Authority, established by the decision of the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt No. 198 of 2000, the city is located 14 kilometers northeast of Luxor and 10 kilometers from Luxor International Airport.
The general scheme
The total area of the city is 9594 acres and the current urban block is 8557 acres and the detailed plan for an area of 6050 acres was approved by Ministerial Decision No. 239 dated April 26, 2020.
Infrastructure
The drinking water purification plant of the city with a capacity of 35 thousand m3/day was implemented in two stages. A treatment plant with a capacity of 9 thousand m3 / day has been implemented in two stages and is being developed to become a tertiary treatment plant using the water produced in the irrigation of green areas within the urban block.
The first stage of the city Exchange Station was carried out with a capacity of 5 thousand m3/day out of a total of 20 thousand m3/day.
Road networks with a length of 138 km have been implemented. I. A transformer station with a capacity of 50 M was implemented.F.A An industrial zone with an area of 382 acres has been planned, which includes 655 plots of land with various areas ranging from 300 to 7200 M2.
Education
Faculty of science: it includes a multi-purpose playground and several laboratories, including; "chemistry, geology, physics, botany, and animal laboratory", administrative offices and classrooms. Faculty of education: it includes a seminar hall, two laboratories of organic and inorganic chemistry, an amphitheater, classrooms, administrative offices, and a multipurpose canteen. The Faculty of Medicine has an area of 13 thousand square meters and includes classrooms and teaching halls, as well as classrooms, offices for the dean, undersecretaries, faculty members and their assistants, offices for administrators, laboratories for the Department of human anatomy, physiological and histological laboratory, Parasitology, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Clinical Toxicology, library, electronic testing center in addition to buildings for medical care and services, a mosque, a cafeteria, green spaces and a parking garage serving the educational process at the Faculty of Medicine. Luxor University Hospital: on an area of 5 acres with a capacity of 150 beds, according to the control and quality standards of the comprehensive health insurance system, and the latest technological systems.
Misr University of Science and technology has acquired a 44-acre plot of land in the new city of Thebes with a total value of 175 million pounds after applying for allocation to the new urban communities authority to establish a branch in Upper Egypt. The university plans to establish 10 faculties at the expected university branch in light of its interest in expanding in new urban cities, specifically in Upper Egypt governorates. The university branch includes the following faculties: medicine, oral and dental surgery, physiotherapy, nursing, Health Sciences Technology, Pharmacy, Special Education, Engineering, Information Technology, Management and economics, languages and translation, media and communication arts, management of archaeological sites and Museum Sciences, Biotechnology. Taiba University of technology The University includes 3 chemical laboratories in addition to computer laboratories, 4 carpentry workshops, 4 classrooms, 4 amphitheaters, 5 five-and multiple playgrounds, a mosque, a theater, a restaurant, a cafeteria, an educational hotel and an educational restaurant, in addition to Student Housing, Student Housing and faculty housing.the student receives a higher technological diploma and Bachelor of technology in any of its specialties. the university also grants professional masters and Professional Doctorates in technology, and began studying at the University in September 2022.
Health
The free Oncology Hospital is located in the new city of Thebes in the north of Luxor governorate, it is the first and largest integrated cancer treatment hospital in Upper Egypt completely free of charge, as it has been equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment devices at the world level in the field of cancer tumors, and serves the residents of governorates in the south of Upper Egypt. The hospital includes outpatient departments for daily examination of patients, a one-day treatment department includes chemotherapy with 45 seats accommodating about 200 patients daily throughout the week, it also includes a radiotherapy department that includes a simulator for determining the treatment area using CT scans, the department also has a mold room for mask making, close-up radiotherapy, a three-dimensional planning device, and an accelerated device for external beam therapy.
The hospital also includes laboratories that include departments (hematology – clinical chemistry – immunology – microbes – cytogenetics – genetic genetics), and a guest house for patients inside it, and there are various radiological devices that include (normal radiography device – mammography device – ultrasound device – magnetic resonance device – multi – sectional CT device), in addition to the Nuclear Medicine Unit and the hot laboratory that includes (radiation dose measuring device – spatial radiation detector – gas cupboard – electrocardiogram room), the hospital also includes the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, which specialties (clinic pharmacist-pharmacist of the intravenous drug preparation unit) include – Pharmacist of the drug dispensing unit-pharmacist of the one-day treatment unit-pharmacist of the outpatient treatment unit).
