Begin your day with an early transfer from your Cairo hotel by your Egyptologist. Drive southward to the land of ancient necropolises-with Saqqara referred to as home to the Step Pyramid of Djoser, which is said to be the first colossal stone structure ever constructed by man. Walk through this enormous burial ground with a history extending into centuries, including mastabas and tombs for nobles, which are decorated elaborately with carvings and vibrant wall paintings. Your guide will relate some intricate tales about kings of early dynastic times and architectural methods that were developed here, thus forever changing the course of Egyptian architecture.
Continue the athanasia by going to Dahshur, a lesser-known shadow beneath the desert south of Cairo. Here you shall behold the grandeur of the Bent Pyramid with its early-stage experiments in pyramid construction and the Red Pyramid of King Snefru, the first ever true smooth-sided pyramid. These pyramids are very well preserved and offer an experience far quieter and more serene than that at the hustle and bustle of the Giza Plateau; hear soaking in views of the desert and the ancient silence while walking around these monumental structures with hardly any tourists. After this fulfilling visit, you are escorted back to your hotel.
