5 Days MS Mayfair Nile Cruise Luxor to Aswan

The visits on your second day in Luxor, you will start your day on the Nile cruise with breakfast, then you will go with your tour guide to visit the amazing monuments west of the city. 

You will start your day by visiting the Valley of the Kings, which is, in fact, a valley of a different kind. It is not distinguished by trees and natural things, but it is a group of royal tombs for the kings of the New Kingdom. The most famous tomb there is the tomb of Seti I, which includes more of the funerary inscriptions.

It is one of the tombs fully decorated with words and spells, and also of engravings of accurate and beautiful natural scenery and the great astronomical scenes which adorn the roof of his tomb, which resembles a night sky.

After that, you will visit a different temple for a unique queen who was distinguished by the qualities of great kings. 

It is the funerary temple, or as it is called, the Deir El-Bahari Temple, for Queen Hatshepsut. This temple is distinguished by the fact that it was built inside the mountain, reaching more than 500 feet. It is said that there was another purpose in building this temple other than it being a funerary temple, as the goal was political, which was to establish her position as the queen of the country.

Finally, you will visit the Colossi of Memnon, which is considered one of the most amazing places to take some pictures in front of it, as it contains two obelisks of the great King Ramses II, which demonstrates this king’s interest in construction. After completion, you will return to the Nile cruise, which will sail to Edfu in the evening.

After having breakfast, your Nile cruise will reach Edfu, located north of Aswan, where you will encounter friendly people and begin visiting the magnificent temple.

You will notice, as you enter the gate of the temple, a statue of an eagle, which was a symbol of the god Horus, to whom the temple was dedicated. This is because the god Horus is the ruler of the underworld, and he represents good and evil. Therefore, he is considered one of the most important gods present during the trial before entering the afterlife, which led the Egyptians to build a temple for him in Edfu. The word comes from the ancient Egyptian language. It means the city of gold, as it contains a temple that represents gold in terms of archaeological and historical value in Egypt.

After your Nile cruise arrives in Aswan and you have breakfast, your tour guide will take you on a visit to the wonderful city of Aswan in southern Egypt.

You will visit the Philae Temple, named after the city. This word is of Greek origin and means "beloved." The Philae Temple is located on Agilkia Island, which is part of the Aswan Governorate. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Egypt. 

The temple is now on an island in the Aswan Low Dam reservoir and Lake Nasser. It used to be at the bottom of the first cataract of the Nile, but the construction of the High Dam covered the site of the temple.

This island had many legends from which we learned the meaning of the name Philae. Among the famous legends that the island was known for in the Middle Kingdom era, the story of "Anas Al-Wujud" is also one of the names by which the island was known. There was a prince called "Anas Al-Wujud" who was infatuated with his beloved, who was imprisoned on this island. In her honor, the prince went to save her on the back of a crocodile in the Nile River and managed to liberate her.

After that, you will go to see the Unfinished Obelisk, which is one of the most important monuments in Aswan. If this obelisk had been completed, it would have been one of the most magnificent and largest obelisks in the world. 

Finally, you will go back to the Nile cruise to take lunch and enjoy dinner in the evening.
