Overview

Private Trip to Saqqara and Memphis

Saqqara Cemetery is one of the most important archaeological sites in Egypt, as it contains tombs whose walls are covered with extremely beautiful and wonderful inscriptions. It also contains pyramids, temples, and Serapeum tombs. Its name is derived from the god of the cemetery, "Sukar." Enjoy a trip to this area full of antiquities and history.

The only cemetery in Egypt with graves dating back to the early days of Egyptian history, as well as numerous artefacts from the Greek and Roman periods, is Saqqara Cemetery.

Memphis, the city of cities in ancient Egypt that was the capital of ’Enb-Hach‘ (the White Wall), the first region of Lower Egypt, is currently a group of archaeological ruins in an area estimated at about 600 hectares located in a wide plain where Upper Egypt meets Lower Egypt, approximately 25 km from Ras El Delta, south of central Cairo. Itinerary

We will start in the morning with a visit to Saqqara and its famous pyramid, where our representative will take you from your hotel in a private air-conditioned car to the Saqqara area.

In the central sector: This is the most important sector of the cemetery. You will start your visit as there is the funerary complex of King Djoser the Great, which is located inside the large and impressive wall and includes imaginary doors. Learn about their importance through your guide. The Step Pyramid, the first stone pyramid constructed by architect Imhotep, is located in the centre of it.

Teti Pyramid Sector: Consists of the pyramids of Teti, the first Sixth Dynasty monarch, his two wives, and a collection of old leaders' graves, including the magnificent tomb of Mereruka... Western Sector: Includes the Serapeum (optional ticket) dedicated to the burial of the sacred calf in the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty.

Unas Pyramid Sector:: It includes the Unas Pyramid and its pyramid group, and its importance is due to the presence of hieroglyphic writings on its walls that include magical religious spells for the deceased known as "pyramid texts". The southern sector: It includes the pyramids of the kings of the Fifth and Sixth Dynasties, the pyramids of some queens, in addition to the "Shebskaf" tomb known as the Pharaoh's Mastaba. In addition to visiting Kagmeni Cemetery.
Your guide will take you to the Valley of the Kings restaurant on the Saqqara tourist road to eat grilled meats and Egyptian stuffed vegetables. After that, we will move to Memphis.

Among the ruins of the Mit Rahina area (the ancient city of Memphis), near the aforementioned temples, is the Mummification Temple, which was dedicated to mummifying the sacred bull of Memphis (Apis) earlier than its interment in Saqqara's Serapeum... The temple dates back to the era of the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty, and it still includes mummification tables and utensils. Your driver will eventually return you to your lodging.

Yes, you can take a camel ride during a Giza Pyramids tour. Camel rides are a popular and iconic activity for visitors to the Giza Plateau, offering a unique perspective on the pyramids and the desert landscape. Here are some things to consider:

  •    Camel Ride Duration: Camel rides at the Giza Pyramids are typically offered for various durations, ranging from short rides of 15–30 minutes to longer rides of 1 hour or more. The duration of the ride can impact the overall experience and the areas you'll be able to explore.
  •    Guided Rides: Camel rides are usually guided by experienced handlers who lead the camels and ensure the safety of the riders. It's important to follow the instructions of the handlers for a safe and enjoyable experience.
  •    Viewpoints: Camel rides often include stops at viewpoints where you can take in breathtaking panoramic views of the pyramids and the surrounding desert. These stops provide excellent photo opportunities.
  •    Cost: The cost of camel rides can vary based on the duration and negotiation skills. Be prepared to negotiate the price with the camel handlers. It's a good idea to have small denominations of Egyptian currency for payment.
  •    Safety and Comfort: While camel rides can be a memorable experience, it's essential to prioritize safety and comfort. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear, and consider bringing a small cushion or pad for added comfort during the ride.
  •    Camel Interaction: If you're interested in getting close to the camels and taking photos with them, ask your guide or handler if it's allowed. Some camels may be friendly and approachable.
  •    Tipping: Tipping the camel handlers is customary, so budget accordingly. A small gratuity is appreciated for their assistance and guidance.
  •    Timing: Consider the time of day when you plan your camel ride. Early morning or late afternoon rides can be more comfortable, as the sun is less intense.
  •    Combine with a Tour: Many tour operators offer combined tours that include a camel ride along with a visit to the pyramids and the Sphinx. This allows you to make the most of your visit to the Giza Plateau.
  •    Camel Care: Show concern for the welfare of the camels. Make sure they are well cared for and not overburdened.
