On this day, we will visit Moses' Well. The icons above the well provide a detailed account of the Prophet Moses' journey from cradle to grave. They begin with the story of his being cast into the river, followed by the story of the well and watering the sheep, and then his marriage to one of the daughters of Prophet Shuaib. The paintings continue the stories of herding the sheep and Moses' journey back to Egypt, followed by his response to God's call at the sacred tree, and the falling of the manna and quails.
The icons also depict the events of the Israelites' exodus from Egypt, the miracle of the parting of the sea, and even Moses receiving the tablets containing the divine commandments and teachings atop Mount Moses. The icons never go beyond the scene of Moses' people worshipping the golden calf, and conclude with the Prophet of God's departure from Sinai to Palestine and subsequent death.
