We will start by welcoming you in the morning from the hotel in a private air-conditioned car. We will start by visiting the Saladin Citadel. Salah al-din assigned his vizier, Bahaa' al-din Qarāqūš to begin the works of construction in572/1176 but Salah al-din didn't live long enough to occupy the residence. A successor al-Malik al-Kamil was the first one to use the citadel as a royal residence, and from then till the 19th cent., the Citadel was the residence of the rulers of Egypt
Khedive Ismail was able to transform Cairo from a capital ruled from castles to a modern city inhabited by the ruler, abandoning the castles and fortresses. This is what Ismail did when he decided to leave Muhammad's castle as the seat of government and go down to the center of Cairo, where he mingled with the people and living next to them. So he ordered the construction of Abdeen Palace.
