Half-day trip to Pyramids and Islamic Cairo from the Airport

The past is reflected in the present, confirming that Egyptians are builders by nature, guided by their sound religious principles. Adjacent to the Sultan Hassan Mosque, the jewel of Mamluk mosques, stands the towering Al-Rifai Mosque, an architectural masterpiece of the 20th century. Join us on a special journey to discover two of the most important mosques in Islamic Cairo. We won't miss one of Egypt's most famous archaeological sites, which includes the pyramids of the Fourth Dynasty kings: Khufu, his son Khafre, and his grandson Menkaure, as well as the iconic Sphinx.

Itinerary

Although the Sultan Hassan and Al-Rifai mosques are geographically close, separated by only a few meters, sometimes leading some to believe they are one mosque, the time gap between them is over 500 years. The Sultan Hassan Mosque was built in 1356, while the Al-Rifai Mosque was commissioned by Khushyar Hanem, the mother of Khedive Ismail, in 1869. Enjoy a tour of these two mosques with us after your airport pickup. Enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing our journey to the Pyramids.

You will visit the Great Pyramid of Giza, which was the tallest building in the world for 3800 years. After that, you will enjoy visiting the pyramid of King Khafre, most likely the son of King Khufu by a secondary wife, who ascended to the throne after King Djedefre had seized power. Khafre's pyramid is comparable in grandeur to Khufu's. Discover the fascinating legends of the Sphinx, which was deified by the pharaohs, and the final stop on this visit is the Pyramid of Menkaure and its complex.

From Cairo Airport, there are numerous ways to get around. By taxi is the most convenient and expedient way to reach Cairo. You'll be approached by taxi drivers as soon as you exit the airport. A good way to get into the city center is by taxi, as the white modern taxis are equipped with a taximeter. Avoid using the black cabs at all costs, as they are likely to take advantage of you and lack a taximeter. Cairo Airport also offers a premium limousine service for visitors with higher expectations.

Memphis is not as popular or successful as it used to be. When the Arabs invaded in the 7th century, the city was already destroyed. They took the old buildings and temples apart to use the materials to build new cities like Fustat and Cairo.

Indeed, a lot of tour companies provide pick-up and drop-off services from the airport in Cairo. It is best to let the tour operator know the specifics of your flight well in advance.
