Khafre's pyramid is proof of how the pyramids in Egypt were covered with a bright reflective layer made of polished white limestone, this would make them a magnificent sight that would be a fitting symbol of the greatness of the pharaohs, but this outer layer of stone was destroyed by a strong earthquake in 1301.
