Walking Tour in Cairo
At the start of your day with Cairo Day Tours, our tour leader will meet you at your hotel in Cairo or Giza. Your walking tour will kick off with a visit to the ancient gates of Cairo, including Bab Zwayla, the main entrance of medieval Cairo. Just outside the gate, you’ll be captivated by the Al-Saleh Talai'e Mosque, where you can climb the stairs for a stunning view of Cairo's minarets. Nearby, you'll find the Sultan Al-Mo'ayyad Mosque, which dates back to the 10th century.
As you stroll, you'll explore the fabric market on Ghouri Street, where you can shop for 100% cotton clothing and fresh fruits.
Next, we’ll take you to the Sultan Al Ghouri Complex, located close to the Al-Azhar Mosque. Directly across the street is the Al Mu’ezz Complex, showcasing breathtaking medieval Islamic architecture from the 13th to 15th centuries. You'll also pass by the Qalawoun complex from the Mamluk era and have the chance to visit El Sehemy House (Bayt Al Suhaymi), an old Islamic residence that once housed up to 200 students from Al Azhar School, all while navigating streets lined with copper, silver, and gold shops.
Continuing your journey, we’ll leave Khan El Khalili bazaar and head to Bab El Fateh, another ancient gate of old Cairo, perfect for taking photos and enjoying the views from Bishtack Palace and the Suhaimy residence. Finally, you can unwind at El Feshawy Café.
After immersing yourself in the richness of Islamic Cairo, we’ll provide transportation back to your hotel. Cairo offers a wealth of sights, flavours, and shopping experiences, so if you have more time and would like to enhance your itinerary, just let us know your interests, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
