Your journey into ancient Egypt begins the moment our expert tour leader greets you at Sokhna Port, ready to guide you on a fascinating Egypt shore excursion to some of the country’s oldest and most iconic sites.
The first destination will be Memphis-the legendary first capital of ancient Egypt. Set near Mit Rahina, about 20 km south of Giza, an open-air museum houses great statues and remains telling the history of a city that once claimed international recognition and was indeed the cradle of early Egyptian civilisation.
Lunch will be around noon at a nearby fine restaurant, where one should savor the traditional Egyptian fare while sipping on a soda that complements local hospitality well and then proceed with their excursion.
Onwards towards Saqqara to see the Great Step Pyramid of Djoser: greatest and oldest known stone edifice in the world. It was erected in 2737-2717 BC by the famed architect Imhotep. This grand tomb changed the entire concept of royal burial and prepared the ground for the construction of future pyramids.
The next stop is Sakkara, home to the famous Step Pyramid of King Djoser, the earliest known stone building in the world. Built between 2737 and 2717 BC under the guidance of the famous architect Imhotep, this splendid tomb was the first to set a new design for royal burial and hence laid the grounds for all subsequent pyramid constructions.
Then comes your last stop at the often less busy yet equally enthralling Dahshur. Here, you find the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, constructed under the reign of Sneferu, the visionary founder of the 4th Dynasty. These remarkable structures are some milestones in the evolution of pyramid building in Egypt.
