Next, we'll travel to Saqqara. The Pyramid of Djoser, commonly known as the Step Pyramid, is an archaeological structure in the Saqqara Necropolis, northwest of Memphis, Egypt. Imhotep, Djoser's minister, built it in the 27th century BC as a tomb for the monarch. This tour to the Saqqara Pyramid is one of the most historic and interesting excursions on your day trip from Sokhna Port.
We will also visit Memphis, which served as ancient Egypt's capital eight times. It flourished throughout the Sixth Dynasty, but its prominence faded after the Eighteenth Dynasty, as Thebes grew. Memphis regained some of its prestige during the Persian period, but it declined once again with the emergence of Alexandria. This visit to Memphis is a highlight of any Egypt tour departing from Sokhna Port.
Next, we'll visit the Egyptian Museum, which is in downtown Cairo. The museum houses an enormous amount of information about Egyptian history and is a must-see during one of our top Egypt shore excursions. Finally, you will be transferred to your drop-off location, which marks the end of our tour.
