Start the Cairo day out after having your morning meal at the hotel. Meet the authentic Egyptologist, then explore the legendary Giza pyramid complex. Really stunning burial grounds and funerary temples that allow you to visit one of the greatest pyramids of antiquity, that of King Cheops, flanked by the pyramids of Chephren and Mycerinus.
The Great Pyramid, an iconic landmark in Egypt, towers up to 146 meters high and covers roughly 230 meters on each side. Erected under the aegis of the Rochefort dynasty but, in fact commissioned by King Snefru's son, this is one of the most magnificent accomplishments of ancient engineering. Enjoy optional camel rides around the plateau while your guide continues to share intriguing stories of the pharaohs and their magnificent tombs.
Next, you will move to the temple in the valley and, by the way, to the Sphinx and King Chephren’s funerary edifice. The first mummification temple designed to accommodate the ritual of the Opening of the Mouth ceremony is nearby. After walking down the causeway, you will find yourself standing beside the statue of the lion, carved in situ and representing a powerful symbol of royal strength and protection.
A restaurant with views of the pyramids will offer a variety of lunch selections, after which you will head to the necropolis of Saqqara. This is where Egypt’s earliest stone pyramids are located. Here you will visit the Step Pyramid of King Djoser, reputedly designed by Imhotep; the remarkable six-tier structure speaks for itself, while the remains of the Heb-Sed courts, where royal jubilee festivals once took place, still stand in small numbers.
Your trip will then continue with exploration of the Pyramid of Teti and a noble’s tomb, possibly that of Kagemni, renowned for its superb reliefs depicting daily life, animals, and offering scenes.
Next, depart for Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt. Visit the remarkable open-air museum of artifacts, including the enormous statue of Ramses II and the alabaster sphinx of Memphis.
At the end of this exciting day filled with ancient Egyptian wonders in Cairo, return to your hotel.
