4-Day Cairo Short Break During Christmas

Enjoy a delightful breakfast on your first day of stay at your Cairo hotel.

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by your tour guide, who will accompany you to the Giza Plateau for the day. The highlights of your tour will include receiving historical perspectives from your guide concerning these splendid ancient wonders while taking in the picturesque views of the pyramids.

As you walk, the Great Pyramid of Cheops, King, will be seen from the foot of the third face of the rocks upon which the ancient wonder lies. Those visitors willing to do so can hire a camel, and still wider camels can tour the whole of the Pyramids of Chephren and Mycerinus and ride over the Great Sphinx, all of which have been scouted by your driver. The next stop is the Temple of the Valley of King Chephren, situated across from the Sphinx. The temple is completely designed as part of the funerary complex of King Chephren.

You can further decide to try one of these exciting experiences: If you are up to the challenge, take a camel or horseback ride around the pyramids for a new experience.

The next stop on the tour is Saqqara—historically a very rich burial ground of ancient Egypt. There you will be introduced to the worldwide famous Step Pyramid of King Zoser and the evolution of the royal tomb (period of the Old Kingdom in ancient Egypt). There are about eleven solitary pyramids in the vicinity, but the highlight of the day will be a glimpse inside the Pyramid of King Teti.

You will be treated to lunch in a local restaurant and then proceed on a tour of Memphis, the first capital of Egypt, where you'll visit the open-air museum and marvelous sculptures like the colossal alabaster sphinx, eroded during eternity by time and daylight; an enormous chunk of Ramses II; and the world's second-largest sphinx statue (after the one at Giza).

At the end of a whole day of touring, you shall return to your hotel near the pyramids in Giza.

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at your Cairo hotel, then prepare for a personalized tour. Your certified guide will meet you at the Egyptian Museum, which displays a remarkable collection of ancient artifacts and statues and royal mummies and the treasures of King Tutankhamen.

After enjoying a flavorful lunch at a top-rated restaurant, your guide will take you to the Citadel of Saladin, where you will explore the beautiful Alabaster Mosque, which Mohamed Ali built as the founder of modern Egypt. Here, you will learn about this important time period of Egyptian history while you enjoy amazing views of Islamic Cairo, which features its beautiful mosques and high minarets and historical domes.

Next, your guide and private driver will take you to explore Cairo's historic sites, which include the Babylon Fortress, the Hanging Church, the Church of St. Sergius, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue.

Your day will end with a trip to the energetic Khan El Khalili Bazaar, which you can discover through its colorful atmosphere.

Afterwards your driver will take you back to your Giza hotel for your second night near the pyramids.
