Desert Safari Trip to Wadi El Rayan and Wadi Hitan
If you want an incredible day trip or experience in the Egyptian desert, book our excursions from Cairo, especially this Desert Safari Trip to and Wadi Hitan. Explore El Fayoum, the largest oasis in Egypt, which has two large freshwater lakes.
After that, we will take you on a superb safari to the area where Wadi El Rayan and Wadi El Hitan are located, along with a beautiful lake and scenic waterfalls that will capture your heart with their charm. Then, continue to the newly declared UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wadi Hitan (Valley of the Whales), which is still full of fossils from ancient times, discovered thanks to the unique desert sand formations.
Another way to secure your reservation is through Egypt Luxury Tours. Egypt is one of the countries that always captivates tourists with its rich culture and friendly people.
Cairo Top Tours' professional tour guide will be waiting for you at your hotel in Cairo or Giza to start your Egypt Desert Safari trips.
We will drive you in an air-conditioned all-terrain safari vehicle through the Cairo-El Fayoum desert road to the Wadi Rayan. Wadi El Rayan, which has lakes connected to one another by waterfalls, presents a scenic view, as it is a depression in the Western Desert of Egypt, around 42 meters under sea level, formed in 1970 by the flooding of drainage water from the farmlands in Fayoum, providing a magnificent view that you cannot find anywhere else (waterfalls in the desert!).
The next part of the Desert Safari through Wadi El Rayan and Wadi Hitan will be done through the road that leads to Wadi Hitan, where you will find skeletons of whales all over. It is a 40 km path in the Wadi El Rayan Natural Reserve, which is also called the Valley of the Whales, a UNESCO world heritage site. You will also see Mudawara Mountain, which is located to the west of el Fayoum Lake, a remarkable spot with a fantastic view of the stunning landscape.
You will visit the national park of Wadi Hitan, which is said to be an open-air museum with the longest and most interesting story in the history of Egypt dating back to 40 million years ago and among the most ancient places in the world that tells the story of the evolution of whales. There are over 400 varieties of whale and sea cow skeletons, other bones, shells, and plant fossils, some of which are preserved in soft rocks.
The 4WD tour will end with a stop for lunch and tea served by the Bedouins in the afternoon, after which the transfer back to the hotel in Cairo will take place.
