Trip to the Monasteries of Sinai from Cairo

After breakfast at the camp, we will start our day by visiting two of Sinai's monasteries, set amid rugged mountains and stunning natural scenery. First, we'll explore the Monastery of Saint Catherine and see the Burning Bush, where God spoke to Prophet Moses and delivered the commandments during the Biblical Exodus.

Next, we will visit the Monastery of Cosmas and Damianos. Originally from Arabia, these brothers—reportedly twins according to some historical sources—were born in the latter part of the 3rd century to Christian parents. Their mother, Theodotus (or Theodora according to other sources), was responsible for their early Christian education after their father died during the persecution in Cilicia.

We will return to the camp afterward for a relaxing evening, dinner, and overnight stay.

After breakfast at the camp, we'll head out in the early morning to visit the Monastery of the 40 Martyrs, also known as Monastery of Deir Al-Arbain. This sixth-century monastery was established to honour the 40 martyrs who sacrificed their lives to defend Christianity against the pagan ruler Licinius, who controlled the eastern half of the Roman Empire in the early 4th century and sought to eradicate Christianity.

During our visit, we’ll delve into both historical and religious insights. Following the tour, we will return to Cairo by private vehicle, concluding our 3-Day Tour to the Monasteries of Sinai from Cairo.
