Nuweiba is an Egyptian coastal city located on the Sinai Peninsula overlooking the Red Sea. The city is famous for the port of Nuweiba. And it is a tourist-agricultural-commercial area, as it is a major Egyptian port on the Gulf of Aqaba, in it there are also many water wells, in addition to the nearby flood waters and springs.
Nuweiba, an Egyptian city located in the South Sinai Governorate, is positioned along the Gulf of Aqaba. It spans an area of 5,097 square kilometers and is situated 85 kilometers north of Dahab and 465 kilometers from the Suez Canal. Nestled in the eastern part of the Sinai Peninsula, Nuweiba features a scenic coastline adorned with a variety of accommodations, ranging from luxurious five-star hotels to more budget-friendly options. The stunning Sinai mountains provide a dramatic backdrop, while views of Saudi Arabia across the water enhance the area's natural beauty.
Dahab, the nearest city to Nuweiba, is accessible via Sharm El Sheikh International Airport. Known for its extensive diving facilities, Dahab offers over 50 sites primarily dedicated to beach diving. Egypt Day Tours in Dahab present visitors with opportunities to discover the captivating waters of the Red Sea, along with a range of day tours designed for those interested in leisurely beach activities, including Dahab Safari Day Tours.
To the north of Nuweiba lies the Bedouin community of Tarabeen, noted for its bamboo bungalows along the coast, while the southern region is home to a less attractive port from which ferries operate twice daily to Aqaba, Jordan. Nuweiba Castle, a modest fortress built by the Egyptian Sardaria in 1893, was initially established as a police station to maintain security in the area. The castle is characterized by its robust walls, entrances, and a large door, and it contains a water well within its premises, located approximately two miles from the Wadi Al Ain Temple to the north, in what is now known as Nuweiba Tarabin.
Nuweiba is situated on a vast floodplain of around 40 square kilometers, approximately 465 kilometers southeast of Cairo and 70 kilometers south of the Israel-Egypt border, which separates Taba and Eilat. Established in 1985, Nuweiba Port functions as a ferry terminal on the Gulf of Aqaba, providing convenient transportation between Jordan and Egypt.
