Khan al-Khalili, an old Cairo neighborhood, is a popular tourist destination with numerous local markets, eateries, and restaurants. Many Egyptian authors, including Naguib Mahfouz, were inspired by this area, with Mahfouz setting a novel called 'Kahn al-Khalili' in the neighborhood. The novel was later turned into a movie starring Emad Hamdy and other actors. The area attracts a high number of tourists and Egyptians alike.
