Visitors can enjoy water sports, snorkeling, and diving in the crystal-clear waters, as well as exploring nearby natural wonders like Wadi Rum and the stunning desert landscapes. Aqaba is a perfect destination for both relaxation and adventure.
Best tourist places in Aqaba Jordan
Aqaba is the only coastal city in Jordan, and today it is above all a particularly sunny seaside resort, where tourists come to relax and enjoy an exceptional underwater atmosphere because the Red Sea is undoubtedly Aqaba's greatest treasure. The coastline offers magnificent seabeds rich in multi-colored fish and unique coral reefs, and there are many diving clubs, glass-bottom boat trips or organized excursions along the coast.
Aqaba Castle is one of the most important castles and archaeological sites that were established in southern Jordan in the Islamic eras, as the castle was built in the Mamluk era in 1501-1517 during the reign of the Mamluk Sultan Kansuagon, and the site was chosen because it is on the shore of the Red Sea, due to the importance of the site for trade routes and maritime and land navigation between the Levant, Hejaz and Egypt, and for import and export through it to all continents of the ancient world.
There is also the archaeological museum located near the castle and the square of the Arab Revolution, this humble museum is one of the best tourist places in Aqaba to discover the city's heritage in depth, the museum includes the history of Roman and Byzantine times, and you can enter the museum for free. The Sharif al-Hussein bin Ali mosque, built under His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal, was also built in 1979 in memory of Sharif al-Hussein bin Ali, commander of the Great Arab Revolution.
On 7 October 2011, His Majesty King Abdullah II opened the expansion and rehabilitation of the mosque, which constitutes an architectural landmark highlighting Arab and Islamic architecture arts. The mosque's original design follows traditional standards in the design of Islamic mosques in hot areas, with its arcade building exposed, and a rectangular prayer space to give the largest extension to the first prayer row.
Oasis Ayla consists of a huge golf course and many perfect private beaches or even restaurants, which is a unique experience to live in Aqaba. A real village within the city with a huge range of shops, you can enjoy diving or booking cruises at this oasis.
