Majorelle Garden Morocco: Complete Guide to Marrakech's Famous Blue Garden
Majorelle Garden in Morocco is an iconic cultural and botanical site in Marrakech. The history of this fantastic garden began in 1923 when a French painter, Jacques Majorelle had discovered his fascination for the landscapes, architecture, and the lively colours of Morocco. Therefore, he bought a large palm plantation at the gates of Marrakech and began to shape it into a place of unique artistic and botanical value.
Over the course of several decades, Majorelle amassed a fascinating collection of plants from around the globe-a menagerie of cacti, bamboo, palms, and exotic species imported from all over Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The style of the garden and every part of it was the direct product of his creative imagination, from the configuration of the narrow walkways to the decorative water pools and vibrant architectural features.
His most famous creation was the brilliant, deep cobalt shade which Majorelle Blue has come to be known as. This incredible pigment was utilized throughout the garden, and it is perhaps its most recognizable aspect. After Jacques Majorelle died in 1962, the garden gradually fell into disrepair. The celebrated designer Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berg purchased the property in 1980 and began to extensively restore and revive it; today, it is one of the most sought-after attractions in the whole of Morocco, drawing travelers, art enthusiasts, and botany aficionados.
