History of El Quseir, Historical Town

It was a site of gold prospecting in the Times of the Pharaohs , and in the sixteenth century it was ruled by Sultan Selim I, whose statue is still located in the center of the city, and Qusair was of military strategic importance, and today it is considered a quiet tourist resort with its sandy beaches, water.It was a gathering Center for Muslim pilgrims coming from Egypt, the Maghreb and Andalusia to perform the Hajj.

The city has a group of Christian and Islamic monuments belonging to different eras, for example, it has a castle built in 1799.There are Coptic and Roman monuments in Qusair in the old Qusair area in the north at kilometer 8, and there are also Islamic monuments in it, namely the Citadel.

Qusayr is connected to the Nile Valley by a 180-kilometer road that passes through Wadi Hammamet and reaches the city of qafat in Qena governorate.in the past it was the only connecting road by upper Egypt and the Red Sea .

 

El Quseir is a famous tourist destination located in the east of Egypt, 73 kilometers north of Marsa Alam International Airport. There are many things to visit:
