We start the trip from your hotel to Coptic Cairo. First, we will visit the Hanging Church. The important items that are part of the church of al-Mu'allaqah include:
The wooden screens separating the three shrines and the main church aisles are inlaid with precious ivory and consist of cross-shaped designs. According to contemporary authors they date from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries. The wood screen of the chapel of Takla Haymanot is composed of panels inlaid with ivory and dates from the 13th century.
After learning about the Hanging Church and its history, we will visit the Church of Abu Serga. Abu Sarga was designed after a basilican building that has two side aisles and a nave. The aisles and narthex are topped by galleries where women used to sit. They are accessed through a stone staircase attached to the southern side of the church.
It was built by the great king Saladin Ayyubi, who had a distinguished history. It was one of the major projects to fortify Cairo in the year 572 AH, under the supervision of his minister Bahaa Al Din Karakush. Salah had chosen a dry area over the high mound in order to protect Egypt from the danger of the crusaders and from the attacks of the fatimids.
Finally, have lunch at a local restaurant near Khan El Khalili, see Al Hussein Mosque and take a walk in Khan El Khalili Street, then you will be transferred to your hotel.
