You are about to visit the Pyramid of Unas. Twenty-three years after its closure, the pyramid of King Unas, the last king of the Fifth Dynasty (2356-2323 BC), has just reopened to visitors.
You are about to visit the Pyramid of Teti. It was opened on May 29, 1881, by Gaston Maspero. In 1951, Jean Sainte-Fare Garnot, then director of the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology (IFAO), and Jean-Philippe Lauer resumed their study of the Pyramid of Teti. Jean-Philippe Lauer cleared the descending passage, which was completely blocked with rubble and fragments of the walls, and began consolidating the antechamber. Jean Sainte-Fare Garnot started cataloging the blocks, but work was interrupted several times until his death in 1963. Enjoy a visit like this, and then you will be transferred to the airport.
