Your trip's second day will begin with an introduction from our licensed Egyptologist. The tombs are carved into rocks and decorated with walls full of inscriptions and texts from pharaonic books and texts.

It was the first church that received the Papal seat from Alexandria during the tenth and eleventh centuries. 

Our tour will continue inside the Babylon fortress, where we will see the church of the cavern, or Abu Serga Church. This church is above a cavern where the holy family decided to stay during their flight to Egypt from Jerusalem. Start your morning early and take your breakfast to be ready for a different adventure across different eras. The first site that you will visit is the Alexandria citadel or Qaitbay citadel, which was one of the main factors to keep Alexandria secure from any danger coming through the Mediterranean Sea. 

The citadel consists of limestone rocks on a very large space, reaching 1750 square meters. When you enter it, you will see the rooms that were the place for the inventory of weapons and guns used in the protection of the country; on the other hand, you will see beautiful windows looking out to the sea waves. 

You will see part of the Roman civilization; you will see the Pompey pillar. It's one of the largest columns outside Rome, and the area outside it gained the name of the pillar. It was built to honour one of the Roman kings for his victory against the rebellions and the revolutions. It's made of the red stone of granite that was brought from Aswan, one of the best cities on the line of the Nile River. It reflects the versatility of Roman engineering and how the ancient Egyptians were successful in dealing with the hard rocks. 

After seeing the Pompey pillar, you will see a unique site that gathers the pharaonic, Roman, and Greek styles in the catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. When you reach it, you will find a ladder that leads you to the burial chambers and the place where the funerals were held. The name of Kom El Shoaqa comes from the fragments of the pottery broken after the funeral and its rituals. 

You will see one of the best landmarks during both the ancient and modern ages, too: the Library of Alexandria. It was built in the third century B.C. Historians believe that the library is said to contain more than 700,000 papyrus, including books from different countries such as Egypt, Greece, India, Persia, and more. The library has been exposed to many trials that have damaged it through many ages and wars, but the Egyptian country has renewed and developed it through the ages, exerting a lot of effort. After seeing all these gorgeous places, you will return to Cairo to spend your final night in Cairo. 

Enjoy the final morning and breakfast in Cairo. You are about to check out of your hotel with assistance from your tour leader. If you have time before your flight time, you can add an activity to your day. Then, you will be transferred to Cairp airport to catch your flight.
