Your first destination today is the stunning Kalabsha Temple, which dates back to the 18th Dynasty, an absolute wonder of ancient Egyptian architecture. This was originally built during the Roman period, when there was a god named Amun-Re that this temple was dedicated to, and it is very interesting.

Continue to the temple of Beit El Wali, which was constructed by Ramses II and houses stunning carvings representing the military conquests of the Pharaoh and his commitment to the gods, including Khnum, the creator god believed to have formed the world on his potter's wheel.

Continue with a drive to the breathtaking Temple of Abu Simbel, probably one of the iconic landmarks of Egypt. Hewn into the side of the mountain during the rule of Ramses II, this complex features huge colossi that immortalize both the king and his favorite queen, Nefertari. These temples are monumental testimonies to the memory of those two great rulers and celebrate the victory of Ramses II in the Battle of Kadesh.

Your next stop will be at Wadi El Sebou, another archaeological site that contains more temples and shrines of other gods. This provides detailed insight into the spiritual life of the Nubians of old and their connections with Egyptian culture.

Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast buffet while going on an excursion to Qasr Ibrim, a place very famous for its big monuments that date back into many ages of Egyptian history. Of special note in this area are the tombs of Nubian rulers dating in time at least to the reign of Pharaoh Thutmosis III. Access to this site is very restricted, but you will be able to see from the outside the historical importance of this site before continuing your trip.

Continue sailing on to the magnificent Abu Simbel, boasting two of the most impressive temples anywhere in the Middle East, if not in the entire world.  into the side of a mountain during the rule of Pharaoh Ramses II, this astonishing complex boasts colossal statues standing to this very day as perennial symbols of ancient Egyptian artistry and engineering. The larger temple is dedicated to Ramses II himself, while the smaller temple honors his beloved queen, Nefertari.

Both temples were constructed not only as an honor of their importance but also as a triumph for Ramses II after his victory in the Battle of Kadesh, with great rock reliefs depicting the Pharaoh in triumph.

The temples were in danger of being submerged during the 1960s when the Aswan High Dam was built. A monumental relocation effort preserved these treasures for future generations. After this enlightening visit to Abu Simbel, go back aboard the cruise ship, having lunch and dinner on board while recollecting the stunning sights and rich history encountered during today's day.
