Cairo Layover Pyramids Tour

Begin your day by visiting the famous Giza Pyramids during your layover, about one and a half hours from the airport, to explore the Great Pyramid of King Cheops, which is the only monument among the seven man-made wonders of the ancient world that still remains almost intact. It was built during the fourth dynasty and the reign of King Khufu, who was the son of another great king called Snefru, who built 4 pyramids for his burial without any evidence of him being buried in any of them. Those pyramids are the Red Pyramid, and the Bent Pyramid, and both of which are located in Dahshur, and the Pyramid of Meidum.

Then our tour guide will show you the other pyramids on the Giza plateau, the pyramids of Chephren ( the second reigning son of Khufu), and finally the third pyramid and the smallest built for the funeral of King Mycerinus. You will also visit the grand Sphinx. We will resume visiting the Valley Temple or the mummification temple of King Chephren.

We will continue our Cairo Airport Tours by visiting the treasures of the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which consists of two floors. The museum displays artefacts dating back to different periods of ancient Egyptian history 6000 years old. More than 120,000 masterpieces are displayed, which means spending only one minute in front of each item, you will need above six months to browse the museum completely. Among the most interesting artifacts are the Tutankhamen collection of gold and jewelry that were hidden under the sand for over 35 centuries till his tomb was found in 1922 by Howard Carter; it was then completely moved to Cairo to be displayed inside the museum.

After that, if you have enough time before the flight, we will take you to enjoy a walking tour of the Islamic district of Cairo, to see the old walls surrounding Cairo and the old gates of this 1000-year-old city, and its oldest street, called Street of El Moez date back to the 10th century. Enjoy your tea at Fishawy's, the oldest cafe in Khan El Khalili, one of the oldest still-operating bazaars in the Middle East.
