Farafra is a unique oasis, and is the most isolated of the New Valley oases. It is famous for its strong traditions and customs. The oldest part of the village is located at the foot of a hill next to palm groves surrounded by palm trees, nearby are hot sulfur springs and Lake Mufid. The oasis is surrounded by several natural springs and many palm and olive trees.
Farafra Oasis in Egypt
In ancient Egypt, Farafra is known as Ta-Iht or the Land of the Cow in the Pharaonic era. It is located northeast of the Dakhla, where the ruins of Kasr El Farafra, Kasr Abu Monkar, and also the cemetery of El Bagawat that goes 350 kilometers west of Cairo, the desert and surrounded by a limestone cliff. It has a population of 20 thousand people, It is also one of the most spectacular and important destinations for tourists visiting Egypt.
