Wadi Hammamat is a dry river basin located in the Eastern Desert of Egypt, approximately midway between Quseir and Qena.

It was an important mining area in the past and an important trade route east of the Nile River, in addition to containing rock drawings and inscriptions, which gave it a distinct scientific and tourist importance.

It is also an old road between Gift and Al-Qusayr (on the Red Sea). The ancient Egyptians used it from ancient times and cut granite, schist, and slate stones from the rock, and left their important inscriptions from the days of the Fifth Dynasty and the eras following it.

It contains prehistoric human drawings and various amazing rock inscriptions, including Sadnine Cave. The sites are located in gold mines.
