After a long way -from Farama to Delta- of pain and injustice but with the God caring the holy family of Jesus escaped to Egypt which was a great additional event in the history of Egypt and the story is mentioned in the 2nd Chapter of the Gospel of Saint Matthew, it started when a group of wise men decided to make Jesus -despite he was a baby - as their new god which annoyed the king of Judea Herod and he planned to get rid of him. An angel warned Joseph and advised him to travel from Bethlehem to Egypt so he took Virgin Mary and started their journey to Egypt.

They headed to Northern Sinai till Farama the places they stayed in have now been turned into monasteries and churches. After that, they went to Tel Basta where Jesus hit the ground and made water spring from nowhere which was a miracle. They continued to Mostorod called also as El-Mahamaah which means the bathing place where the Virgin Mary was bathed in the holy Jesus and cleaned his clothes.

Belbas was the next destination where they rested and have fresh air under the Sycamore tree which was named after as “The Virgin Mary’s Tree”. By crossing the Nile to the city of Samanoud and he blessed it with a water well too. And in Sakha, it is said that he put his holy finger in a stone and pure water came from it. They oriented Westward specifically to the Valley of Natroun, which was his first place to learn God's meditation and chastity.

Finally, the reached the districts of Cairo in Matariyah and Ain Shams and he hollowed anther water well where the holy Virgin Mary washed Jesus ‘s clothes and from its water, the Balsam Tree raised up. They headed to old Cairo after that where they were protected in a cave and in its place Church of Abi Serja was built. And they settled down in Al-Maadi where the holy Virgin Mary ‘s church was built near to the Nile

They sailed to southwards to Minya passing the intier east bank of the Nile till they reached Gabal-Al Kaf where the Monastery of the holy Virgin Mary took a place. It said that Jesus left a palm in a stone righ there and from the same place the holy family took a boat to the west to Qussqam in Assiut where the Monastery of Al-Moharraq raised up after they spend six months there. In the same place, in Jesus’s dream an angel showed  and inspired him to go back to Palestine because the king of Judea Herod was dead.

And after spending 3 years in Egypt they took the same place back to  Palestine.
