Amenemhat was the last to hold the title of governor of the province. He held this position for about 25 years during the reign of King Senusret I, one of the kings of the Twelfth Dynasty (about 1965-1920 BC).

As with Khnum-hotep II, the entrance to the tomb is in the form of a portico with two pillars, surrounded by a forecourt, and accessed by a corridor ascending the hill. Its path can still be seen thanks to the rocks on its sides. In the center of the eastern wall facing the entrance is a shrine containing the remains of a statue of Amenemhat, his wife Hetpet, and his mother Hanu.

The tomb of Amenemhat is distinguished from the rest of the tombs of Beni Hassan with its bright and amazing drawings.

The tombs of Beni Hassan are considered one of the most beautiful tombs at all in different eras, as they were carved in the mountains with simple tools, genius and sophistication in the designs, which include scenes from daily life such as agriculture, fishing, birds and hunting of gazelles.
