The journey begins in Giza, where you can see the more than 4,500-year-old Giza pyramids and the magnificent sphinx, shaped like a lion with a pharaoh's head on top. Our Egyptologist will also examine the ancient building methods employed to erect these temples.
The Grand Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, which houses the largest collection of monuments and antiques related to ancient Egyptian history, is one of Egypt's most important institutions and will be our next stop. The magnificent tombs of King Tutankhamun and the fascinating room filled with mummified animals are just two of the remarkable items that belonged to Pharaohs and their ancestors that are on display in this exhibit.
It also has approximately 100,000 artifacts from many cultures that have influenced Ancient Egyptian civilization in different ways throughout thousands of years.
We'll then eat lunch in a true Egyptian restaurant in Cairo. Our program will include a visit to the ancient Cairo Islamic neighborhood. The Salah El-Din Citadel will be the first place the tour stops. You will visit the "Mohamed Ali Mosque" to see the fortifications within this magnificent castle. The fact that this fortress offers a view of the entire historic city is noteworthy.
You will arrive at Coptic Cairo, the Christian area of the city, at the end of your historical tour. The Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Hanging Church, and the Church of St. Sergius, which is often called the Church of the Cave, are the Sites where the Holy Family hid during their departure to Egypt. Eventually, we return you to your hotel following an enjoyable program in Cairo and Giza.
