The Ibn Tulun Mosque is located in Cairo, Egypt. Specifically, it is situated in the Sayyida Zeinab neighborhood, near the Citadel of Saladin and the historic district of Islamic Cairo. The mosque is one of the oldest and largest surviving mosques in the city and is considered a significant architectural and historical landmark.

The 162-meter-long, square-shaped Mosque of Ibn Tulun was built with red brick that had been well-fired and intricately carved stucco fronts over pointed arches. The mosque has undergone multiple full reconstructions since it was first completed by architect Saiid Ibn Kateb Al-Farghany.
