Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Cairo by our representative and meet your Egyptologist guide to start a new adventure in Medieval Cairo starting with the Citadel of Saladin, or as we say in Arabic Salah Al Din Citadel built by the Muslim leader Salah Al Din in the 12th Century to be the strongest fortification for Cairo and also to be a residence for the government and the army. The Citadel comprises many buildings but the most impressive of them is the Mosque of Mohamed Ali which is similar to the Turkish style of architecture art. The Citadel continued major development during the following 700 years since it was built by Saladin specially during the Mamluk Sultanate, followed by the construction projects of Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad in the 14th century. Muhammad Ali Pasha demolished many of the older buildings in the 19th Century and built new palaces and monuments all across the site till it has been proclaimed by UNESCO as part of the world hiritage site in 1976 and opened to the public officially in 1983.

Continue to see the beauty of Islamic Cairo depicted in El Moezz Street's historic building and mosques which have the greatest concentration of medieval architectural treasures in the Islamic world. The street is named after the fourth caliph of the Fatimid dynasty, Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah and it stretches from Bab Al-Futuh to Bab Zuweila in the South, those were gates to Cairo at that time. Enjoy your time at the oldest bazaar in Egypt, Khan El Khalili Grand Bazaar where you can buy souvenirs and enjoy Egyptian tea time in The El-Fishawy cafe which first opened its doors in 1797 and it will give you a vintage nostalgic feeling.
Then you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
