Begin the day at the New Grand Egyptian Museum; it has items collected from tombs, and you will be able to see those that are displayed in the exhibit done at the British Museum. After the museum, go for a stroll around the district of Old Cairo – the streets meandering through the city’s quarters will give you an idea of multicultural Cairo. The awe-inspiring Hanging Church, and the exquisite church of St Sergius and Bacchus will be visited.
Journey Through Islamic Cairo
In the afternoon, it is Moslem and revolves around the culture of Islamic art, architecture, and of course many souks. And let’s exercise our appreciation for the detailed work in the great mosque buildings like Al-Azhar and Sultan Hassan to discover what the word ‘artist’ means to the Islamic world. The souk actually has the smell triggered by spices and the sound of merchants selling their goods within the souk makes this enticing part of the world all the more incredible.
